Why Not You đ...
đ A Proud Moment as a Parent and Coach
This past week has been a special one for my family. My younger son achieved a lifelong dreamâcommitting to play Division I hockey next year at Quinnipiac University. Itâs a goal heâs been working toward since he was just a little kid lacing up his skates for the first time.
As a dad, I couldnât be prouder. As a coach and physical therapist, it reminds me of something bigger: dreams can come true if youâre willing to do the work, even when the odds are stacked against you.
đ Our Athletes Are Doing Big Things Too
This summer at Whole Health Solutions and Sports Performance, weâve had the privilege of working with so many incredible athletes chasing their dreams. Many of them are now heading off to play college sportsâhockey, lacrosse, baseball, rowingâat the Division I, II, and III level. A few have even earned the honor of competing on the national stage with Team USA.
Every single one of them started the same way: with a dream. And at some point, I can almost guarantee someone told them (or their parents):
-
âWhy are you wasting your money?â
-
âYour kid will never play in college.â
-
âEveryone ends up in beer league anyway.â
But hereâs the thing: while yes, at the very end of the road most athletes do end up in the same place, somebody has to be on those college and professional teams. Why canât it be you?
đ The Odds Are Toughâbut Possible
The statistics are sobering. Fewer than 5% of hockey players will ever suit up for a Division I program. The numbers shrink even further when you start talking about professional sports.
But every year, new rosters are filled. New players step into those jerseys. And every single one of them once faced the same doubts, the same naysayers, the same obstacles.
The difference? They kept working. They believed in the possibility. Their families supported them. They had coaches, trainers, and mentors in their corner.
đȘ Dreams Beyond Sports
At Whole Health Solutions, weâre honored to be part of that journey for so many young athletes. But itâs not just about sports. For our adult clients, itâs about chasing dreams tooâwhether thatâs climbing a mountain, getting back on the pickleball court, or simply feeling strong and confident in daily life.
Dreams donât expire. Goals donât vanish because of age. Whether youâre 16 chasing a scholarship or 60 chasing an adventure, we believe the same truth:
đ Somebodyâs got to do it. Why not you?
đ Congratulations and Keep Going
So hereâs to my son, to our student-athletes heading off to college, to the kids still grinding it out in middle school and high school, and to the adults who are pushing themselves every day:
-
Congratulations on your hard work.
-
Congratulations on pursuing your dream when the odds say otherwise.
-
Congratulations for proving that âsomebody has to do itââand it very well could be you.
And yes, this is a little bit of a humble brag. Iâm proud of my son. Iâm proud of our athletes. And Iâm proud of the community weâve built where people come to chase big goals. We canât wait to see what dreams come true next.
